Dr. Elizabeth Lewis
Scientific & Regulatory Adviser (Chemistry)

Dr. Lewis joined NutraSteward as Director in 2016. She has an established track record of providing consultancy services to clients wishing to navigate the regulatory approval processes for novel food and animal feed ingredients. Over the past 10 years, she has collaborated closely with numerous international clients to develop robust regulatory strategies to market.

She has extensive experience of the preparation, submission and stewardship of successful scientific applications for novel food and feed ingredients in Europe, the U.S. and Canada. In this role, she has advised clients on the design and placement of studies to support the safety and efficacy of a wide range of ingredients including additives, functional food ingredients and new sources of vitamins and minerals. Additionally, she has developed a strong network of contacts within European, U.S. and Canadian regulatory bodies and academic institutions.

Dr. Lewis has a BSc, MSc and PhD (University of York, UK) in Chemistry. After her studies she worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Minnesota (U.S.), and University of Hull. She was a Senior R&D Scientist for Croda Chemicals Europe before becoming a Consultant at Intertek Scientific & Regulatory Consultancy and for DuPont Industrial Biosciences. Alongside her role as Director for NutraSteward, Dr. Lewis is the Secretary General of BAFSAM, the British and Irish Association of Feed Supplement and Additive Manufacturers, a Business Coach for Horizons 2020 and is an Associate Lecturer in Biological Chemistry with the Open University.

Dr. Gerry Dillon
Scientific & Regulatory Adviser (Animal Nutrition)

Dr Dillon joined NutraSteward in 2022 having previously worked in regulatory affairs for over 12 years in the animal nutrition and cosmetic industries. He has extensive experience in the preparation of feed additive dossiers, post-submission communication with competent authorities, project management of characterisation, safety, and efficacy trials, the marketing of feed and regulatory problem solving and trouble shooting.

Dr Dillon is an experienced analytical chemist is also an accomplished technical writer being a lead or co-author on over 25 peer reviewed scientific publications. He holds a PhD from Trinity College Dublin in Organic Chemistry, an MSc in Pharmaceutical Analysis, also from Trinity College Dublin and a BSc in Science from the University of Ulster. He is currently studying for an additional MSc in Brewing and Distilling by distance learning from Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh. Dr Dillon previously worked as the EU Regulatory Affairs Manager for Alltech and as a Regulatory Affairs Analyst with Oriflame Cosmetics.

Tom Jonaitis, DABT
Toxicology Adviser

Tom Jonaitis is a board-certified toxicologist and independent adviser that works with clients in the food ingredient, dietary supplement, consumer product, and related industries, providing comprehensive toxicology and regulatory consulting guidance and support. He has extensive experience in regulatory evaluations.

This includes scientific literature hazard reviews and risk assessments, as well as creating pre-market dossiers for novel food and dietary supplement ingredients submissions to various government agencies, including Health Canada, Australia’s TGA and FSANZ, and US FDA. Tom also has over 15 years of experience helping companies address California Proposition 65 compliance and avoiding enforcement activities. 

Dr. Dawn Harmon
Scientific Adviser (Microbiology)

Dr. Dawn Harmon joined NutraSteward in 2016 applying her strong academic background in genetics and biochemistry to the preparation of complex scientific regulatory dossiers for human food and animal feed ingredients in Europe, the U.S. and Canada.  Her particular expertise is the safety and utility assessment of microorganisms, including products derived from genetically modified microorganisms.

Dr. Harmon has a BSc in Chemistry and a PhD in Biochemistry (Kings College London).  Following her studies, she joined the Genetics Department of the Trinity College Dublin as a postdoctoral research assistant, and was an Assistant Lecturer in the Pathology Department of University College Dublin.  She currently combines her role at NutraSteward with a position as Assistant Staff Tutor in Biology and Health at the Open University (UK).

Dr. Seth Remington
Scientific Adviser (Toxicology)

Dr. Seth Remington joined NutraSteward in 2020 applying his knowledge of toxicology and industrial processes to the preparation of scientific regulatory dossiers for food and animal feed ingredients in Europe, the U.S. and Canada.  Seth has a BSc in Medical Biochemistry, a MSc in Toxicology (Birmingham University), and a PhD in Genetic Toxicology (Newcastle University).

During his PhD he evaluated the potential of pesticides and other organophosphates to induce DNA damage and cytotoxicity.  He also investigated whether any DNA repair pathways or apoptosis were initiated in response to the genetic damage.  Seth has spent time working in the petroleum industry working to ensure that quality standards and environmental safety was upheld.

Dr. Jabarry Belgrave
Scientific & Regulatory Adviser (Crop Sciences)

Dr. Jabarry Belgrave joined NutraSteward in 2024. He has worked in agroforestry with leguminous trees for biochar and animal feed production, and for soil nutrient additions. He has also assisted with biomass to energy projects in the Caribbean using sugarcane factories to produce electricity during the off-season.

Dr. Belgrave has a BSc (Hons) in Ecology with Earth Sciences, and a PhD in Ecology (University of the West Indies). In addition to his role at NutraSteward he currently works as a part time lecturer in the Department of Biological and Chemical Sciences of the University of the West Indies – Cave Hill Campus. He has taught courses in plant biology, crop ecology, horticulture, zoology, and genetics.

Shanice Manson
Associate Scientific Regulatory Adviser

Shanice Mason joined NutraSteward in 2024, applying her solid foundation in food safety and veterinary science. She holds a Masters of Philosophy in Biochemistry from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus. Shanice specializes in veterinary diseases, drug residues in food, food microbiology and biochemistry.

Marialejandra Coronado James
Administrative & Technical Assistant

Marialejandra joined NutraSteward as Administrative & Technical Assistant in 2020. She is a petroleum engineer, graduated from the Eastern University (Universidad de Oriente) in Venezuela. After her studies she worked in the oil industry for Halliburton as a Mud Engineer, preparing, analysing and maintenance of drilling fluid.

In NutraSteward, Marialejandra assists with the day to day management of projects.  In this role, she critically evaluates chemistry and manufacturing information, and undertakes literature searches to assist with dossier preparation.  Additionally, she oversees the library resources and quality control procedures within the company.
